My brothers illness

08/18/2008 my brother, Michael Boyer, had been taken to the hospital for what we had thought was a spider bite or staph infection that was getting out of control, which caused his face to swell to where his eyes were swollen shut. After numerous test and being evaluated by a doctor we were devastated to find out that his kidneys had been failing. He was then rushed to the childrens hospital in Madera, California. After and ultra sound had been completed we had found out that Michael had only 15% of his kidneys that were functioning. There fore we realized that was why his face had been swelling. His kidneys were not funtioning enough to put off the red cells to fight off the infections. There had never been any side effects or symptom to this condition. We absolutely had no idea of the information to come. The doctors then decided to do a biopsy to find out why his kidneys were failing. 08/21/2008 we received the results of the biopsy. it was then we found out michaels kidneys were unrepairable. Our options for treatment are michael being placed of dialysis until there is a match for a kidney donor. End of August a peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter was placed for nightly dialysis.

With Mikeys father not having medical insurance on him, the bills are overwhelming, and my mom is really ready to lose EVERYTHING ! His medications cost (average) 1700$ monthly and his dialysis supplies are (again, average) 12,000- 17,000$ per month. His biological mother is not in our lives and she is incarcerated for the 6th time in 7 years, since my mom married his dad. So she is, uummm lets just put it nicely, not a bit of help.

Because of Mikeys condition he qualified for the make a wish foundation with the Childrens Hospital..(do some research..its a great program). However, we have no idea when he will get his wish. His wish was for a shopping spree. SO that he can own a PS3 to continue to do what he loves..and I think, its like a 5,000$ shopping spree . Until then, he wants and wants and wants, as we all do. The difference is that he cannot do the things we can. He is limited on foods, drinks, activities, sleep, medications and sooo much more. Things are honestly getting worse. The doctor says that he will not be able to urinate by himself soon, he may get "very sick"..

Im not asking for much but please keep him in your prayers/thoughts and heart as we are going through this devastating time. We still have the paypal account for donations. I will give anyone his address if you prefer to send maybe a card or mail to him. Please keep me posted or any leads that you may have..financial support, medical support...ANYTHING HELPS.

Help-U-Sell Green Valley Realty is holding a food drive for the bakersfield rescue mission for thanksgiving. We are accepting any kind of parishable and non-parishable foods including frozen turkeys and hams etc. The rescue mission will pick up food on a daily basis. There is a tuff shed located right outside of our office and there you can place the food. Everyone who donates will recieve a raffle ticket and be eligable to win a prize at the end of the food drive. Please come together and help feed the less fortunate on this very special day.

2008 Condors Charity Golf Tournament

The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have announced their annual Charity Golf Classic will take place Monday, October 27 at Rio Bravo Country Club.

The Condors Charity Golf Classic has been held every year of the Condors existence and has raised over $40,000 for local organizations in the previous 10 years. The proceeds from this year's tournament, which is sponsored by Bakersfield South Rotary, will benefit Kern Bridges Youth Homes, which provides adoption services for children previously destined for long-term foster care, and continuing education for childcare professionals.

Teams are composed of four entrants and a Condors player, in a scramble format. The cost is $125 per person and includes a Condors golf tournament polo, greens fees, cart, range balls prior to the start, a sack lunch and a dinner after the tournament, with chances to win prizes throughout the day. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $20 each, and the dinner includes deep pit, BBQ chicken, chili beans, salad and rolls.

Condors @ 2008 Kern County Senior Olympics

Condors mascot Colonel Claw’d will lend a hand to participants at the 2008 Kern County Senior Olympics from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Colonel will march in the parade at the commencement of the Senior Olympics and help present awards at the conclusion. He will also be on hand to help the competitors in the wheelchair race. The event will be held at the Rosewood Retirement Community, located at 1301 New Stine Road.

PIRATES AT LOCAL THEATER

PIRATES ON BOARD!!!! On Thursday the 24th. there will be a crew of Pirates, Including two of the Crew Members from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie". They will be at the "Pacific Theater", near the Vally Plaza Mall. The pirates will be interacting with the Public and giving SWAG (treasure) to the kid's and the kid's at heart, and for the kid's in a Pirate costume they will get a free Pirate hat (while supplys last). The Pirates will be harrassing the patrons in line to see the movie and then be doing a Skit inside the Theater right before the movie (this will be in theaters #3 & #15 only). They will have Authentic Autographed Items that will be given to some lucky people inside the theater right after the skit.All this will be happening at the theater about 5:30 pm till the movie starts. They will be doing this at the 8:00pm and 8:45pm showings ONLY, So dont miss out and tell all your friend's This is your chance to meet a Pirate in person. So come and have some fun in Town.
