    Prop 8

I was saddened to see that so many people want to continue to deny the rights of  U.S. citizens. All people regardless of race, religion, color or creed deserve the right to marry whom they please. Please don't make this a religious argument, it boils down to denying rights. There was a point in time when women were denied the right to vote. There was a point in time in the not too distant past when a white person could not marry a black person. There was a point in time when people with disabilities had no rights. Luckily these groups of people had supporters that continued the fight to end such atrocities. I hope there are enough people out there to continue the fight so that gays and lesbians will have the same rights as the rest of the U.S. population.

    Re: Prop 8

It is not right to have the same sex marry each other! What is sad is that all the organizations that are for this can't respect what the people voted for. The people have spoken and said no! So all of you need to respect the vote and move on. I gaurentee that I do not want my son to be learning about that stuff. It is also sad that all of you want to brain wash our children and tell them it is ok for a man to man or women to women to marry. That makes me sick! What else that makes me sick is that all of you flaunt it in front of them and that is wrong. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN AND EVERYONE VOTED YES AND SO ALL OF YOU NEED TO MOVE ON!!!!!

    Re: Prop 8

Why is it not right for same sex to marry? Don't you want the best possible education for your son, shouldn't all points of view be presented and let your son make an informed decision? This is something that people need to talk about. I too, am a father, I have 3 kids and if one of my kids wants to marry the same sex, well that is fine with me. All I want for my kids is to be happy. We can't afford to bury our heads in the sand and hope it will go away. Oh wait that's right if we don't acknowledge it, it will go away. Like teen pregnancy, or abortion, or drugs, or peoples rights. You are right the people have spoken but I disagree that EVERYONE VOTED YES. I think maybe it is time to take the blinders off and look at this world, times are changing and we need to be flexible enough to change with them.

    Re: Prop 8

It isnt so much the "gay rights" issue which concerns me......they will prevail....we all know it....

What concerns me is this:  I took my daughter(Hunter-9-years-old) to vote with me as I always have in order to expose her to our "democracy".....

The majority vote was concluded to be---YES on Prop 8----a week later---The good old California Supreme Court agreed to hear the opposition---I expected nothing less---but it gives young Americans or those who choose NOT to vote....a debate to argue "does my vote count"?

In addition--My family watched the election unfold on that November 4th night and as each state revealed the "winner" my daughter was beginning to understand the whole "electoral count" process(this is where I have to say how freaging impressing she was in her understanding of this confusing process) Well, needless to say...as BO was announced 44th President of the United States....my daughter was frustrated and disappointed, but not just because McCain was defeated, but she watched the new announcement and said..."MOM! they havent even tallied or concluded California votes...and look at those other states they havent counted!!! NO FAIR!!" was her conclusion that night....

Regardless, she knows it is her obligation to lead and fight for our freedoms....even my generation...the 30-somethings seem to believe a conservative fairy is out there fighting for our freedoms....it isnt an option to merely vote these days...a left movement is gaining far more control over the USA than most believe....
