My wife worked from open to close for a fireworks stand. I asked her how it went. She said, "We got five." Five hundred dollars? "No; five sales." Other stands are reporting a lackluster business and dropped sales from last year. Some blame Arnold's influence but if one notices the prices of these fireworks packages, they can be pretty steep when the depression economy we're in is considered.
If fireworks were banned, I wouldn't miss them. I'm not against kids lighting noise makers or sparklers, but my neighborhood looks like a combat zone in Baghdad this time of year. It's kind of scary; I never knew I lived in the middle of so many pyromaniacs.
Like other issues in this state, resolution means picking a side and going to extremes. For some reason, moderation is not an option.
