The San Joaquin Valley Lapidary Society will once again put on an educational presentation during the 6th Annual Rock & Mineral Rendezvous. The program will feature an opportunity for students to learn about mining, minerals, gold panning, and the art of Lapidary. many of the displays will be "hands on" activities.
Program includes:
- Gold Panning Deomonstration. Local gold panners will show the tricks of gold panning while briefly educating on the subject. Students will get to try their hand at panning for gold in a tub of sand and water.
- Mining. Mining Engineer will give an informative talk on the importance of mining in a modern world. Talk will be at a level students will understand, have a chance to mine in a sand bed.
- Rock and Mineral Display. A guide will show students differnet types of rocks and minerals, many fromtheir home county of Kern. Students will have an opportunity to feel many of the samples.
