Don't get depressed about not hearing ring tones. It's a gimmick catering to gullible kids. I'm sure teens would love to have a ring tone just for them, but it's still one of those ads too good to be true.

I found myself able to hear every ringtone on the list. I do not know if that is good or bad for a male in his mid-40's.

Wow! That's insane! What will they think of next? I cutoff around the age 24 range and I'm 29.

The "mosquito" tone was originally developed and marketed to annoy teenagers to discourage them from loitering in targeted areas. The idea was that a shopping center or unintended teen hangout would broadcast the tone to drive the nonprofitable trouble making kids away. Hearing typically fades with age, especially among adults that listened to loud music or work in a noisy environment. Most adults would not be able to hear the annoying tone and simply continue shopping oblivious that anything was going on.

However, some creative entrepreneur turned the tables and marketed the mosquito as a way for teenagers to get passed uncool adults. The kids can still get their calls & texts but the teacher/parent is none the wiser because they cannot hear the phone ring.

Where can I get a copy of your 2005 report on red light cameras? KGET pulled it off their site, do you know if the video is posted anywhere else on the web? It would be great if you revisited the subject and updated your story. The law has not changed and the police still mislead people about having to turn in their family or friends. However, the CA Supreme Court announced in Sep08 that they would be reviewing red light camera systems that paid private operators a bounty for each ticket they issue to drivers. Several per-ticket-profit camera systems have been caught issuing tickets when there is no violation and city police dept's are abusing the "bulk approval" feature some systems provide (PD's are suppose to review each ticket but some dept approve tickets in large batches)
