I'm sure the lesson isn't lost on the kid. I recall at about age 9 or 10 my mother caught me with gum and candy I shoplifted from a neighborhood store. I had to go to the store, ask for the mgr, return the loot, apologize and promise not to ever do it again. All this in front of customers, some of whom knew who I was. Never so humiliated in my life. But it ended my criminal career.

Unlike a spanking or grounding, I had to face my crime victim and make ammends in public. I think juvenile lawbreakers should be held to the same standard of account, rather than keep them confidential. Their psyche isn't that fragile.

re: Parent Puts Kid On Corner With Sign: Good Or Idea Or Bad?

Now there is a MOTHER right there...exercising her responsibility as a mother and a parent. I was glad to see that she found an alternitive to the old fashion spanking...or if she's anything like my parents,we got that spanking too. But I don't think her son will be disrespecting any of his elders anytime soon...so yes,she did good...
Of course,that's just my opinion

Civilized Revolt » Humility: A Good Punishment

PingBack from http://civilizedrevolt.com/?p=165

re: Parent Puts Kid On Corner With Sign: Good Or Idea Or Bad?

Catpaw--
Sounds like a reasonable move to me. My parents would have done the same thing. It's a pretty good deterrent.

re: Parent Puts Kid On Corner With Sign: Good Or Idea Or Bad?

I wish some parents were more like her.
