Bakersfield soldier charged with killing couple

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A prosecutor says a Bakersfield soldier at Fort Lewis, Washington, killed a married couple - both fellow soldiers - and poured acid on their bodies in an attempt to dispose of them. The couple died Saturday.

Ivette Gonzalez Davila is also accused of taking the couple's 6-month-old girl. The 22-year-old was ordered held without bond for investigation of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping.

A court document says Davila took the baby to a Home Depot after the killings, bought muriatic acid, returned to the home and poured it on the bodies in the bathtub.

The baby was not harmed and is now in the care of the state's Child Protective Services.

Dysfunctional people in uniform is nothing new. I hope this singular incident does not affect the majority of soldiers who are serving our country honorably.
