Kern High School District trustee Chad Vegas says he will request the district post the motto, "In God We Trust" in all Kern High School District classrooms at the board meeting tonight, October 1.
"Our classrooms should be places of instruction in public policy and posting the official motto of the United States of America is a logical first step in making sure our students are informed and grounded in these basic tenets," Vegas said in a news release.
Vegas is pastor and founder of his own church, Sovereign Grace.
City councilwoman Jacquie Sullivan said her organization, In God We Trust America, would help provide the motto posters. Here's her organization's Website:

But critics call the move religious zealotry, and a push to insert religion into public schools. Among the movements biggest critics is the local chapter of "The Word Can't Wait-Drive Out The Bush Regime." Here's their Website: http://www.worldcantwait.net/
The group interrupted an "In God We Trust" celebration last year.
The Kern High School Board of Trustees meets at 7:00 pm in the Board Room at the Kern High School District's Administrative and Support Services Office, 5801 Sundale Avenue.
