Vincent Brothers Trial

Paternity Recalled 03/27/2007

The prosecutor and the defense stipulated this morning that Vincent Brothers is the biological father of Lynsey, Marques and Marshall Harper.  The probability or paternity ranges from 99.9992% to 99.9997%.  That means neither side in this case disputes that fact.  Several women who had sexual relationships with Brothers testified last week that Brothers deined some of the kids were his.

Meantime, crime lab technician Becky Stokes testified today she lifted a host of latent fingerprints in the Harper family home, including some from Vincent Brothers.  But she said you would expect there to be some fingerprints from someone who lived in the home (as Vincent Brothers did for a period of time).  Stokes lifted Brothers’ fingerprint from a Taco Bell cup and a Van Wilder DVD.  There were a slew of other fingerprints from the Harper family members on everything from sliding glass doors to doorframes.

Kaci Wilson, a criminalist with the Kern Regional Crime Lab, also testified she processed some of the blood sample taken from the Harper family at autopsy.  Wilson also photographed evidence, like Joanie Harper’s handbag that was found dumped out on the laundry room floor.
